*Walmart and USAID: Feed the Future

This is a three year PPP aims to link smallholder farmers in Central America to Wal Mart’s supply chain. The program will give farmers assistance to grow high quality fruits and vegetables. USAID and Wal Mart have worked together on a variety of projects in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador.  In 2012, Walmart purchased $75 million in produce from 3,500 small and medium sized farms and accounted for 35% of fruit, grain and vegetables sold in their stores in Centra America.
